October Favorites

I feel like it's been forever since I was able to share monthly favorites. Not only to sit down and write one, but also to have the opportunity to use enough products to justify an entire post. With preschool in full swing, I'm getting ready most days and rediscovering a lot of great products for fall. I won't have products in every category, just those that really stand out to me that I feel I need to share! Let's dig in.

October Favorites | Lusterhood

My favorite moisturizer this month is thanks to NewBeauty TestTube. My last tube had Purlisse's new Watermelon Energizing Aqua Balm and I've been using it every day since I got it. It smells great, leaves my skin hydrated with no greasy residue, and it has my favorite packaging for a moisturizer (squeeze tube). I've loved all my Purlisse discoveries but this is at the top of my list lately.

This month my favorite foundation has definitely been Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation. It's got the most beautiful finish that remains from application until it's time to wash my face at the end of the day. I'm so glad I finally gave it a try. I had been hesitant since my t-zone is so oily but I've had no issue whatsoever. Definitely a gem at the drugstore you should try if you haven't already. You can read my full review here.

Powder (and powder brush)

Back when Ulta had one of their great sales (that narrows it down, right??) I got the It Cosmetics Pores No More powder and it came with a free brush. Well, both of these products have been my favorites and I haven't been able to put them down. The powder is finely milled, invisible on the skin and feels weightless throughout the day. The Love Beauty Fully Powder Brush is the perfect companion to this powder because of its duo fiber hairs that give a light, even application. There's really no over doing it with this brush. I have over a dozen of the brushes from this line and this is definitely my favorite so far.

Eye Primer

I discovered Ulta's Matte eye primer in a free gift that was included with one of my orders and it's been a standout ever since. The formula is creamy, long-lasting, and evens out any discoloration on the lid. It's the perfect base for any shadow and it's a great deal, especially if you take advantage of Ulta's sales and coupons.

Yet another great deal from Ulta - the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. I waited and waited to get this palette, convincing myself I'd get it on sale, and I definitely did! This palette was half off and in combination with my points, I practically got it for free. This is one of the only Too Faced palettes that's caught my eye since I gravitate toward neutrals, matte or shimmer. This has a great assortment of everyday colors that can transition to night. My nightlife isn't the greatest example, since I go to bed asap.. but I digress. If you haven't delved into higher end palettes and want to invest in just one, this is definitely a contender. Plus the packaging is fantastic for travel.

Non-beauty Favorite

My non-beauty favorite for the month is my Denise Albright Calendar! This calendar puts a smile on my face every time I see it. It's a great size whether you keep it out, in a drawer, or hung on a wall. And, once you're done with the month, the back of the page is lined for check lists. Music to a list-lover's ears. Check out all Denise Albright's new releases and save on all your purchases with code LUSTERHOOD.
