Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation // Oily Combination Skin

I've seen a lot of rave reviews of The Healthy Foundation by Physicians Formula, but like any oily/combination skin girl, I questioned if it would work for my skin. This foundation is advertised as suitable for all skin types, so I thought it couldn't hurt, right? I'm rarely one to venture outside the world of matte foundations, but with this one, I'm definitely glad I took the plunge.

Physician's Formula The Healthy Foundation Review | Lusterhood

The overall look of this foundation seems very high end to me. It's got weight to it, a sleek design and seems like it would travel well. To open, you unscrew the top to reveal an oversized doe foot applicator. I was put off by this at first, but I just put the foundation on the back of my hand, as opposed to directly to my face. This way, I get just the right amount without contaminating the foundation as much. As the foundation gets lower, I see the applicator becoming useless and you'll just have to pour it out as you would a standard glass bottle. Not a deal breaker, but I'd definitely like to see a pump in the future!

As described on the Physician's Formula website, this foundation is long-wearing with buildable coverage and a satin finish. Key ingredients include Vitamins A, C and E as well as hyaluronic acid for hydration. This formula also has their brightening complex to improve the overall look of skin.

The Healthy Foundation by Physicians Formula has an incredibly smooth, blendable formula. I just used a flat top brush and had an even, flawless application in a matter of a couple minutes. It didn't dry too quickly, like many of my matte foundations do, but it also didn't remain tacky or slide on my skin like some luminous formulas. As with my typical routine, I used my Maybelline concealer under my eyes and set everything with my It Cosmetics loose powder.

This foundation gives a very natural, skin-like finish. So much so, I realized how dry and powdery my usual foundation had been making my skin look. Even with the addition of a loose powder, I didn't lose the natural, smooth effect of this foundation. I was pleasantly surprised and hoped it would look just as flawless throughout the day.

As I tested this foundation, I checked in throughout the day to see how it was wearing:

Mid-morning - Still flawless, no creasing around nose as I would normally see.
Afternoon - Looking great, even close up. No signs of wear or product breakdown.
End of day - Feeling very comfortable and powder products still visible with no shiny areas on the skin. Normally I can't wait to wash my face, but I really didn't want to!

The areas that impressed me in particular were:

Around the nose - no creasing or excess oil
Around the eyes - no clinging to dry patches or emphasizing fine lines
Forehead - no excess shine or visible wear

I didn't notice any oxidation throughout the day, which is a major bonus. I'm always afraid trying new foundations and getting a correct color match, but for me LW2 is just perfect and stayed that way throughout the entire day.

I was thoroughly impressed with the wear, look, and feel of this foundation. I thought having an extremely oily t-zone was going to prevent me from having a lasting, natural finish on my skin throughout the day. However, this foundation caught me completely by surprise. I don't remember the last time I was THIS impressed with a foundation. It's probably one of my favorite drugstore finds to date. Have you tried this foundation yet?
