I have a
confession. It has taken me almost 15 years of wearing makeup to
appreciate blush. If you were to explore my makeup collection you
would find eye shadows and palettes galore. But
blush? A handful. I have combination (at times very oily), fair,
sensitive skin with a slight yellow undertone, just to give you a
nice visual. Most blushes I've admired over the years = shimmer
like a disco ball. So I steered clear and got the bland pink blushes
from the drugstore that wouldn't emphasize my skin's imperfections or
make me breakout like a teenager.
Over time, I've
learned to embrace my oily skin and finding the right skincare products was the first step. Hydration is key! With that, a whole new world
opened up to me. I've purchased various kits throughout the years,
giving me an opportunity to branch out with new formulations and
colors. So I recently went out on a limb. Blush with shimmer. So
without further adieu, I give you two of my favorite blushes.
Makeup Geek blush in Romance – These blushes also come in pans but I prefer compacts so I can put just one in a makeup bag. The color reminds me of Milani Luminoso (another favorite for another post) but less peach. It's such a flattering everyday blush. I thought the blush would be bigger but you don't need a lot so I see it lasting a long time. This one holds a special place in my heart because my husband got it for me for Christmas! :)
Laura Geller
Blush -n- Brighten in Pink Grapefruit – I got this blush in the
Flawless in a Flash set from Ulta. (I will do a full review once I
try the mascara that comes in the set.) Laura Geller sets are such
an incredible value, this one definitely had me sold! According to
their site it is beige, mauve and shimmering pink. It's pretty just looking at it! I like to
apply blushes with a duo fiber brush, such as the one from Real
Techniques. I find it gives an even application without going
overboard. They're incredibly pigmented! Laura Geller blushes also
last longer throughout the day than most others I have tried. There will be many more posts dedicated to Laura Geller so
stay tuned!
